FAQ's

Who do you work with?

I work primarily with adults who may be experiencing:

  • Complex PTSD (C-PTSD)

  • Developmental or relational trauma

  • Anxiety, stress, or burnout

  • Life transitions such as separation, divorce, identity shifts, or career change

  • Emotional disconnection or long-standing patterns that feel hard to change

Many clients come seeking deeper self-understanding, nervous system regulation, and more authentic connection with themselves and others.

What is your therapeutic approach?

My work is trauma-informed, relational, and body-aware, integrating attachment-based and nervous-system-focused approaches. Therapy emphasizes present-moment awareness, curiosity, and compassionate exploration rather than “fixing” or pushing for change. Sessions are collaborative and adapted to your needs.

What is NARM-informed counselling?

NARM (NeuroAffective Relational Model) is a therapeutic approach that supports healing from complex and developmental trauma by working with patterns of connection, identity, and regulation in the present moment. It focuses on restoring internal safety, agency, and authentic self-expression without requiring clients to relive traumatic events.

Do I need to have experienced trauma to come to counselling?

No. Many clients seek counselling during periods of stress, transition, or emotional overwhelm without identifying a specific trauma. Therapy can support greater clarity, resilience, self-connection, and emotional regulation regardless of diagnosis or history.

Are your services covered by extended health benefits?

Many extended health benefit plans provide coverage for counselling services. Coverage depends on your individual plan and provider. Clients are encouraged to check directly with their insurance company regarding eligibility and reimbursement.

How long are sessions and how often do we meet?

Standard sessions are typically 50 minutes. Frequency varies based on your goals and needs—some clients attend weekly, while others choose bi-weekly or more flexible scheduling. This can be discussed collaboratively.

What can I expect in a first session?

The first session is an opportunity to:

  • Get to know each other

  • Discuss what brings you to counselling

  • Explore your goals and concerns

  • Ask questions and determine whether this feels like a good fit

There is no pressure to share more than feels safe or comfortable.

Is counselling confidential?

Yes. Counselling sessions are confidential and follow professional and ethical standards. There are limited legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality, which will be explained clearly during the intake process.

How do I book an appointment?

Appointments can be booked online or by contacting Eos Counselling directly. If you’re unsure whether counselling is right for you, you’re welcome to reach out with questions.

What if I’m not sure counselling will help?

It’s completely normal to feel unsure. Counselling is a collaborative process, and you are always in control of the pace and direction. Even one or two sessions can help clarify next steps or provide support during a challenging time.
